Pavement announce new US tour dates
Pavement are set to return to the road this summer for a string of tour dates in the United States.
The upcoming run of shows will begin with a headline performance at Oakland’s Mosswood Meltdown festival on July 17th.
Then, the indie icons will perform at Revolution Hall in Portland on July 18th, followed by dates in St Paul, Chicago, Cleveland, and Richmond. The brief tour will conclude on July 27th at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Although Pavement haven’t extensively toured since 2022, they have continued to play intermittently since then. Their last show took place in November at Hipnosis Festival in Mexico City.
Last year, the band’s focus was on promoting Alex Ross Perry’s unconventional biopic on the band, Pavements.
The movie, released last July, blends documentary, archival footage, interviews, and scenes from the a fake biopic, featuring Stranger Things’ Joe Keery as Stephen Malkmus and Jason Schwartzman as Chris Lombard.
Far Out gave the film a glowing four stars, writing, “By building such a baffling and interesting nest around them here, bringing in the phoney movie and the wild musical, Perry allows the group to be the most normal part of it. This allows their actual story to be told purely because the entertainment and the drama are elsewhere. Not only is it somewhat genius, it’s also just a lot of fun—even if you’re not a fan.”
Additionally, 2025 saw Pavement reflect on their career further with the release of the new compilation album, Heckler’s Choice. They also shared their first new recording in 25 years, sharing a cover of Jim Pepper’s ‘Witchitai-To’ in May.
