One of the most accomplished musicians the British Isles have ever produced, The Jam’s Paul Weller was speaking about another great talent yesterday, the late, great, Amy Winehouse.
Weller was in conversation with Lauren Laverne at the BBC 6 Music Festival this weekend. With the event taking place in Camden, Winehouse’s hometown, the conversation naturally moved to the troubled star.
Weller said, “She was just amazing, she came down to rehearsals and just blew all of us away.” Winehouse has been making waves in Camden ever since she arrived and has become a staunch part of the iconography of the area.
It was enough to see her stone laid in the walk of fame that runs through the streets as well as garner a brand new biopic. And the Modfather had kind words about the star too.
Speaking of their collaboration on ‘Don’t Go To Strangers’, “We were just astounded at how great she was – naturally gifted she was. Sorely missed. She was just a great personality as well, just a natural God-given talent, you know.”
You can listen to the full conversation here. But in the meantime find Weller and Winehouse’s collaboration below.
