Paul Simon announces extensive new UK and European tour
Legendary singer-songwriter Paul Simon has confirmed a new UK, Ireland and Europe tour for 2026.
In February, Simon confirmed that his retirement was coming to an end and he was returning to the stage for a North American theatre tour, which he has since completed.
After wrapping up his North American run in August, Simon is finally returning to Europe for the first time since his Homeward Bound farewell tour in 2018.
The tour, titled A Quiet Celebration Tour, will get underway with three shows in Prague, Czech Republic, in April, before he makes his way to Germany for two shows in Berlin.
Simon will also play a pair of concerts at the Falkoner Centre in Copenhagen, Denmark, three nights at AFAS Live in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and three shows at Bozar in Brussels, Belgium/
Then, in May, he will start the month with two concerts at the Grand Rex in Paris, France, before coming to the UK for shows in Liverpool, Glasgow, as well as two nights at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
The European tour will conclude on May 20th at Dublin’s 3Arena.
His band for the tour features Mark Stewart (guitar), Bakithi Kumalo (bass), Steve Gadd (drums), Andy Snitzer (saxophone), Jamey Haddad (percussion), Mick Rossi (piano, keys), Gyan Riley (guitar), Nancy Stagnitta (flute), Caleb Burhans (viola) and Eugene Friesen (Cello).
Tickets are due to go on sale on December 17th.
In 2024, Simon remarkably admitted that he wasn’t sure if he would perform live again due to his ongoing hearing issues, stating, “I’m not sure how I can integrate my voice with the guitars.”
However, in a later interview with The Guardian towards the end of 2024, Simon was much more positive about his chances of playing concerts again, stating, “I’m hoping to eventually be able to do a full-length concert. I’m optimistic. Six months ago I was pessimistic.”
Now, after the successful North American tour, it appears that Simon is here to stay.
