Paul Mescal on Andrew Scott in ‘All of Us Strangers’: “One of the great modern performances”

The most prestigious British film awards ceremony, the Baftas, is officially underway, and stars have been lining the red carpet as they anticipate a celebration of the best cinematic achievements of 2023.

Irish actor Paul Mescal is nominated for ‘Best Actor in A Supporting Role’ for his performance in Andrew Haigh’s moving film, All Of Us Strangers.

The movie has been nominated for six Baftas, including ‘Outstanding British Film’, ‘Best Director’, ‘Best Adapted Screenplay’ and ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for Claire Foy.

Interestingly, Andrew Scott, who portrays the main character, Adam, has not been nominated for ‘Best Actor in a Leading Role’. The actor gave a heart-wrenching performance as a middle-aged writer who visits his parents despite the fact they died when he was a child.

The movie, which deals with themes of grief, sexuality, and identity, has left countless viewers emotionally destroyed, partly down to Scott’s incredible performance.

On the red carpet at the Baftas, Mescal gushed about his co-star, stating, “I just love him as a human being.” He added, “The performance everyone is seeing from him, I got to see from inches in front of his face.”

Mescal continued, “So I knew from the first time we shot together that he was giving, I think, one of the great modern performances.”
