Paul McCartney unveils new trailer for ‘Man on the Run’ documentary
Paul McCartney‘s new documentary, Man on the Run, has unveiled a new trailer ahead of its premiere on February 27th on Prime Video.
“The Beatles had been my whole life, really. When we split up, I thought… I’ll never write another note of music, ever,” McCartney’s voice-over confesses at the start of the new trailer, over a montage of footage which depicted the iconic Liverpudlian band playing together.
The documentary chronicles McCartney’s solo career, as he faces new emotional, artistic, and personal challenges while forming the band Wings.
As the trailer depicts shots from his own personal life, McCartney admits he felt depressed and feared becoming a grown-up. However, he said, “I was very lucky, because I had Linda.”
The trailer then sews together footage depicting Paul and Linda McCartney forming the band Wings. It promises “rare, unreleased music and footage.”
The viewer is taken through the happy-go-lucky creation of the music, including a tidbit where Paul is asked when he first realised his wife could sing. “On the wedding night,” he jokes merrily.
However, as the trailer shows, things weren’t always easy. “Wings was a dud when it first came out,” he admits, as they “Started it from square one. People thought we were totally crazy, but that was our way.”
John Lennon’s figure looms over the montage. “Me and John, we were just growing apart really. And now we’re off on another journey. We’d had arguments and all of that, but we’d loved each other all our lives,” his voice-over continues over footage of the formidable pair.
The documentary, directed by Morgan Neville, will show the best and worst of Paul and Linda’s creative endeavour with former Moody Blues singer Denny Laine and drummer Denny Seiwell.
Neville previously directed the Oscar-winning 20 Feet From Stardom, Keith Richards: Under the Influence, and Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming, with Dave Letterman.
