Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand team up for new collaboration ‘My Valentine’
Barbra Streisand has teamed up with Paul McCartney for a new version of his track, ‘My Valentine’.
The new recording is set to appear on Streisand’s new album The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, which will be released on June 27th, 2025. It also features contributions from Bob Dylan, James Taylor, Sting, Hozier, Laufey, Sam Smith, Tim McGraw, Josh Groban, Seal, Mariah Carey and Ariana Grande.
Earlier this week, Streisand teased the track on social media, writing, “What a joy it was to record ‘My Valentine’ with Paul McCartney. To share time with him in the studio was truly special!”
McCartney initially released ‘My Valentine’ in 2012, when it appeared on his Kisses on the Bottom album. It is lovingly dedicated to his wife, Nancy Shevall. He wrote the song while they were on a romantic holiday in Morocco, which was a rain-soaked escape, but the weather didn’t bring the pair down.
The former Beatle once explained: “So one afternoon, when it was raining, I was in that foyer, and without anyone noticing except a couple of waiters who were clearing up, I sat at the piano and started knocking around with this little tune, kind of in the style that I knew he played in: ‘What if it rained? We didn’t care. She said that some day soon the sun was gonna shine…’”
Streisand’s forthcoming record is the follow-up to 2014’s Partners. Upon announcing the project, she shared, “I’ve always loved singing duets with gifted artists. They inspire me in unique and different ways…and make our time in the studio a joy!”
The ten-time Grammy winner continued: “My new album, The Secret Of Life: Partners, Volume Two, gave me the chance to work and play with some of my old friends, label mates, and new artists too. I admire all of them… and I hope that you’ll enjoy listening to our collaborations as much as I enjoyed recording with all of my wonderful partners.”
