Paul McCartney and The Specials to contribute to War Child’s ‘Secret 7″‘ project
Paul McCartney, Celeste, The Specials and Aurora are among the artists who will contribute songs to War Child’s Secret 7″ project, which is returning for the first time since 2020.
Secret 7″ is a charity project which combines art and music, inviting artists worldwide to submit sleeve designs for the songs which, if chosen, will be exhibited at London’s NOW Gallery in March 2024.
Once the exhibition is over, the records will be auctioned for the benefit of War Child, although buyers will not know the identity of the artist behind the sleeve until they’ve made their transaction.
There will be 700 seven-inch singles up for grabs, with 100 copies of each song from seven different artists. Between 2012 and 2020, Secret 7″ raised over £500,000.
Rich Clarke, the head of War Child, explains, “War Child operates in some of the most challenging, hard-to-reach places to help children and families who are most severely affected by war. Sadly, demand for our work is growing.”
He added, “We are grateful to all the musicians, artists and partners who are involved in Secret 7″. Together, we will be able to protect and educate many more children, supporting their healing and learning for a safer, brighter future.”
Submissions are currently open for anyone to upload their sleeve designs, with a deadline of January 9th 2024. You can find the website here.
