Paul Hardcastle announces tragic death of his son in motorcycle accident

1980s pop star Paul Hardcastle has announced the tragic death of his son, Paul Hardcastle Jr.

Hardcastle’s late 35-year-old son is one of the three children that he shares with his wife, Dolores Baker, whom he married in 1985.

The musician took to Instagram on January 12th to announce the harrowing news. He shared an image of Hardcastle Jr as a child, which he heartbreakingly captioned, “Just to let you know that my super talented son Paul Hardcastle Jnr. was in a fatal motorcycle accident earlier and has sadly died. RIP son love Dad”.

Hardcastle Jr followed in his father’s footsteps, carving out a career as a saxophonist and DJ. In 2020, he topped the USA Billboard Jazz Chart with his single, ‘Touch and Go’.

Additionally, he collaborated with his father on the 2008 album, Hardcastle 5, contributing to the record’s closing song, ‘Take 1’. In 2022, Hardcastle Jr also performed on his father’s most recent studio offering, Hardcastle X.

The late musician’s Instagram biography describes himself as a “Multi Platinum Musician / Producer” who has contributed to records that have sold more than four million units.

Notably, Hardcastle Sr topped the UK Charts in 1985 with his anti-war hit single ’19’, which remained in the number one spot for five weeks, and also became a number-one single internationally.

Furthermore, his single, ‘The Wizard’, was chosen as the theme song for Top of the Pops between 1986 and 1991.

Similarly to his son, Hardcastle has been pursuing jazz since leaving the world of pop behind in the 1990s.
