Patti Smith is opening up in lockdown as she announces she will be holding a virtual performance alongside a book reading of her recent book Year of the Monkey.
The event will be filmed by hugely acclaimed cinematographer Matthew Schroeder and will arrive under the title ‘An Evening of Words & Music with Patti Smith’.
The event will take place at Murmrr Theatre in Brooklyn and will see Smith provide her fans with an intimate performance and some carefully put together words. Performing some songs with her longtime bandmate Tony Shanahan.
It isn’t Smith’s first lockdown livestream after participating in the Earth Day celebrations alongside R.E.M.’s Michale Stipe, Cat Power and Flea among others.
Smith also used yesterday to celebrate her son as he turned another year older. The poet wrote a small piece for him via her Instagram and it was yet another reminder of the talent she possesses.
You can find tickets for ‘An Evening of Words & Music with Patti Smith’ via the Murmrr website here.
