Pamela Anderson and sons announce ‘Barb Wire’ series

Pamela Anderson has launched a production company with her sons and announced that a Barb Wire series reboot is currently in development.

The new family affair will see Anderson work alongside sons Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee at their company, aptly named And-Her-Sons Production. Their first project will be a TV series from UCP and Dark Horse Entertainment based on Anderson’s 1996 movie Barb Wire.

The original movie adaptation, released by Universal Pictures, was based on the 1990s comic book character from Dark Horse Comics. The movie followed Barb, played by Naked Gun actor Anderson, fighting crime in the fictional city of Steel Harbor.

The original synopsis read, in part, “If you’ve got a problem, Barb Wire is the solution. She’ll use any dangerous weapon – including her body – to take what she wants, crossing the line for no man, until the day Axel Hood hits town. He’s on a mission, and Barb is the only one who can get him out of town alive.”

Major details are under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Anderson will not be reprising the role. Deadline reports only that the TV series will have “a different feel” than the film.

Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will executive produce the TV series for Dark Horse. Anderson and Brandon Thomas Lee will exec-produce for And-Her-Sons.

Anderson has a jam-packed schedule. Her next projects include Anderson Love Is Not the Answer, directed by Michael Cera, followed by Queen of the Falls, directed by Rania Attieh and Daniel Garcia, as well as Alma, directed by Sally Potter.

Far Out recently praised Anderson’s performance in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl, writing, “Anderson delivers an impressive performance that culminates in an incredible final act, with her emotions running wild as she gives an erratic and moving delivery of pure frustration.”
