Ozzy Osbourne warns fans not to snort ‘Death Dust’ in new video

The canned water company Liquid Death has released a new electrolyte mix called ‘Death Dust’. To promote the product, Ozzy Osbourne has jokingly warned the public not to consume the supplement.

The Black Sabbath singer and heavy metal pioneer has appears in a new advert for the company following the release of the product. ‘Death Dust’ comes in a small packet, and the liquid IV is added to water, which makes it more refreshing and hydrating.

Liquid Death, founded in 2018, has been associated with the heavy metal community thanks to its marketing, typeface, and the fact that it has run advertisements with bands from the scene, such as Judas Priest. Notably, it also recently sponsored Download Festival. Subsequently, it’s no surprise that it sought out Ozzy Osbourne for a new advertisement.

The advertisement focuses on two teens preparing to rip into a packet of ‘Death Dust’ by dropping it in their water bottles. Afterwards, Osbourne, known for his former hedonistic lifestyle, pulls up in a limousine to offer the teenagers some advice. The promotional video makes fun of Osbourne’s well-known drug problems, which famously drove a wedge between him and his Black Sabbath bandmates.

“Death Dust? Take it from me, don’t snort that stuff,” Osbourne warns in the video. The two teenagers remind Osbourne that ‘Death Dust’ is healthy and isn’t the same kind of powder he was used to taking when he was younger.

“Whatever you do, don’t try freebasing it. And never ever inject it,” he continues, “And don’t even think about boofing it, you little perverts.”

This isn’t the first advert the ‘Prince of Darkness’ has appeared in over the years. For instance, he took time to promote the Playstation VR2 headset in 2023, and he also appeared in a 2023 Super Bowl ad for Workday alongside other ageing rock stars like Billy Idol and Paul Stanley.

It’s a common occurrence for rock stars to appear in well-paying promotions. They typically bring a sense of humour to what otherwise might be a serious career. Most importantly, it’s a healthy payday for minimal work. Other famous partnerships include the likes of Paul Stanley, who helped promote Dr Pepper and Folgers Coffee, Steven Tyler did an advertisement for the Kia Stinger, while John Lydon became the face of Country Life Butter.

Additionally, The Rolling Stones famously helped launch Windows 95 by allowing Microsoft to use their song ‘Start Me Up’ for an alleged fee of $3 million.
