Ozzy Osbourne denies rumours he has died
Heavy metal founding father Ozzy Osbourne has addressed rumours that he has died, stating that he is, in fact, alive and that he isn’t “going any-fucking-where”.
The 75-year-old former Black Sabbath man was diagnosed with Parkinson’s back in 2020 and has also been suffering from unrelated health complaints after a fall damaged his spine in 2019, aggravating an existing injury caused by a quad-bike accident in 2003. This has led to several death hoaxes by “sick fuckers”.
Speaking on The Osbournes podcast, the Prince of Darkness addressed the rumours with typical mirth. “The thing on YouTube, it’s got ‘Celebrities Who Died Today’, and there’s a picture of me,” he said. He claims this is not the case and, if anything, he is recovering his strength enough to play further shows.
“I’m not dead, I’m not going any-fucking-where. And I’m going to go and do some more gigs before I’m finished, anyway,” Ozzy said. His son Jack also condemned such reports, saying that the family do see them, before praising fans who call them out.
Ozzy also referenced Monty Python when espousing his will to live. “I’m not dead! I’m not really dead, just a little flesh wound,” the rocker quipped.
In February, Ozzy was forced to cancel his planned tour of the UK and Europe saying that he was “still physically weak” and could not perform live following his back surgeries. However, with his recovery going well, he seemingly now believes he will be able to play some one-off shows.
You can watch him discussing his potential return to the stage on The Osbourne’s New Year’s Special below.
