Oscars ‘Best Picture’ winner ‘Anora’ arrives on streaming
After winning ‘Best Picture’ at the Oscars earlier this month, Sean Baker’s Anora has now arrived on Hulu.
The film, which stars Mikey Madison who won ‘Best Leading Actress’ at the Academy Awards for her performance, arrived in cinemas last October. Despite having a budget of only $6 million, Baker’s film grossed over $52 million at the box office.
However, due to Anora’s success across the awards season, including scooping the most important prizes at the Oscars, there has been renewed interest in the film. Now, it has landed on Hulu in the United States which allows viewers with access to the streaming platform to watch the movie at home.
Currently, no streaming platform is available in the United Kingdom to watch Anora, but this will likely change in the future.
However, it is still possible to watch Anora at home in the UK with the film now available to rent for a limited period of time for £4.99 from on-demand services such as Sky Store, Amazon Video, and Apple TV+.
Upon being crowned ‘Best Leading Actress’ at the Oscars, Madison gleefully said: “Wow, I really wasn’t expecting this, I probably should have listened to my publicist and wrote a speech or something. Thank you so much, Sean Baker; I just adore you. You are such in incredible person. I know you hate it when I praise you but I just have to, you made my dreams come true.”
Madison also poignantly thanked her mother for driving her to “hundreds of auditions” and described her as her “favourite scene partner” due to the amount of time they’ve spent memorising lines together.
