Oscars 2025: Amelia Dimoldenberg returning as official red carpet host
Chicken Shop Date creator Amelia Dimoldenberg has been announced as the Oscars’ social media ambassador and red-carpet correspondent for the second consecutive year.
The hilariously deadpan internet sensation will be all over the Academy Awards coverage, hosting awkward interviews with nominees and other Hollywood luminaries on the red carpet prior to the ceremony. It’s a real vote of confidence in the English comedian, who proved to be a triumph with the Oscars audience last year.
Dimoldenberg’s videos have amassed 668 million views and 2.83 million subscribers on YouTube, with 27 million hours of material watched by audiences worldwide. Her following balloons to 14 million when all social media platforms are included.
The Academy’s Chief Marketing and Communications officer, Jennifer Davidson, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome back Amelia as our social media ambassador and red carpet correspondent to provide viewers with exclusive access to the Oscars.”
Davidson added: “Amelia’s widespread appeal and unique approach resonated with global audiences, and we are looking forward to her affable and engaging perspective on the Oscars experience.”
How did Dimoldenberg do at last year’s Oscars?
Last year, Dimoldenberg revealed that getting the call to work at the Oscars was a dream come true, telling A.Frame, “What better place to interview Hollywood stars than the Oscars?” She added, “I’m also really excited to do something original and put my own stamp on the Oscars, to create some really amazing moments and deliver some amazing interviews — some groundbreaking pop culture journalism is incoming.”
The London native also revealed that she would do her best to separate her Oscars coverage from Chicken Shop Date, which first brought her to fame. “I’m excited to do something a bit new and fresh,” she stressed, “and it’s not going to feel like a Chicken Shop Date. It will feel like its own thing. I’m the common denominator, obviously, but I’m excited to make this feel as fresh and original as it can be.”
In the end, Dimoldenberg’s efforts paid off, as she held inimitable semi-flirty, mostly aloof red-carpet interviews with stars like Dwayne Johnson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Billie Eilish, and Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars 2024.
Viewers will see if lightning can strike twice for Dimoldenberg at the 97th annual Academy Awards on March 2nd, 2025, at the Dolby Theatre in the Ovation Hollywood complex.
