Orville Peck releases acoustic performance of ‘Summertime’

Canadian country musician, Orville Peck, has released a dreamy acoustic version of his song ‘Summertime’.

The stripped-down version of the number sees Peck in a reflective mood as he sings, “Watch each other falling, always catch the call and whistle while we’re walking/Something inside me dies/You and I — why oh why/ And I miss summertime” while dining his pink cowboy hat.

‘Summertime’, originally released at the beginning of the month, marked first new material from Peck since his breakout 2019 debut, Pony. With accompanying piano contributions from Duncan Hay Jennings, the acoustic version offers another string to his bow.

“Summertime can be a season, a person, or a memory of a happier time that can be difficult to visit,” Orville Peck told NME. “Ultimately this is a song about biding your time and staying hopeful — even if it means missing something or someone,” he added.
