‘Only Murders In The Building’ to leave New York for London

The hit Disney+ series, Only Murders In The Building, is set to depart New York City for London in its sixth season.

The programme, which stars Selena Gomez, Martin Short and Steve Martin, as crime-solving sleuths, recently concluded its fifth series in as many years.

On the day that the final episode aired, Disney+ renewed Only Murders In The Building for a sixth season and shared that it will relocate across the Atlantic.

John Hoffman, who created the series with Martin, explained the decision in an interview with Deadline, sharing, “London is New York’s sister city. There will be all sorts of connectors. We will take our storytelling and steep it into this new culture and our trio will be fish in new waters.”

Regarding the storyline, which will focus on the death of Tina Fey’s character Cindy Canning that occurred in the finale of season five, the showrunner shared, “The character of Cinda started everything, so we’re going back to the beginning. So the nature of what she’s doing, what she is doing over in England, doing this thing now, why?”

Hoffman is also excited to explore this storyline, sharing, “I got to know more about it, and it’s an opportunity to tease something that opens up a whole new mystery in the home of the cozy murder mystery, which felt very exciting.”

While there isn’t currently a release date for the sixth season of Only Murders In The Building, it’s expected to arrive on screens in 2026.

Only Murders In The Building has been nominated for 17 Emmys since it first landed on screens in 2020. The cast has also included Hollywood stars such as Meryl Streep and Paul Rudd over the seasons.
