Kevin Barnes and his troupe of experimental pop makers, of Montreal, are at it again with a brand new track ‘Paranoiac Intervals/Body Dysmorphia’ (catchy). This new track is even backed up by another slash split title in the shape of upcoming LP White Is Relic/Irrealis Mood, which is out March 9 via Polyvinyl.
The track is another step on the constantly moving and evolving Barnes who has always managed to slip under the radar when discussing genre-defying artists. Like his compatriot Beck, Barnes and of Montreal are this time turning a little more electro as they search for a societal escape.
The album is said to be highly influenced by 80’s dance music and also sees another departure for Barnes, who said “I also decided to abandon the ‘live band in a room’ approach that I had been using on the recent albums and work more on my own or remotely with collaborators.” Finally denoting the work as “I became ‘Simulated Reality’ paranoid and I fell in LOVE.”
