Oasis to “pause for period of reflection” following tour finale

Oasis have announced their plans to take a break after playing their final reunion show in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The Britpop legends have been crisscrossing the globe for the past year after announcing their first shows since their breakup in 2009. Now with the final show being finished, the band have released a statement about taking it slow for any future dates.

In a statement, the band have said that they have plans “pause” for a while before committing to any more shows, saying, “From Gallagher Hill to the River Plate, from Croke Park on the banks of the Royal Canal to the City Of Angels, the love, joy, tears and euphoria will never be forgotten. There will now be a pause for a period of reflection.”

The message also went on to acknowledge the young fans that have helped keep the spirit of Oasis alive in the years since their breakup, remarking how their music “found its way into the hearts and minds of a new generation.”

This also echoes a lot of statements that frontman Liam Gallagher made as the tour was winding down. Although the singer did imply that there was something else lined up at their final shows by saying ‘See ya next year’ before going into their closing song ‘Champagne Supernova’, he took to social media to clarify his comment from the stage.

While there are opportunities to tour, Liam said that the band have plans to figure oiut what their next step is, explaining, “You will see me next year and the year after and so on just not sure yet if it’ll be with oasis we need to sit down and discuss these things if it was all up to me then you know we’d be touring till the day we die.”

That hasn’t stopped the countless rock and roll contemporaries from giving their nods of approval. Among all of the many artists that saw the band live, Paul McCartney said that their reunion shows were magnificent, while everyone from Johnny Marr to Jon Bon Jovi to former ‘Battle of Britpop’ rival Damon Albarn counting it among the biggest reunions of all time.

While the band did have a few shows without rhythm guitar staple ‘Bonehead’, the entire band was back in action for their final stop in Sao Paulo. Outside from their usual setlist, the band also paid tribute to late Stone Roses member Mani on their final shows, dedicating the song ‘Live Forever’ to him.
