Oasis share live recording of ‘Wonderwall’ from Dublin
Oasis have shared another live recording from their reunion shows. This time, ‘Wonderwall’ from their first Croke Park concert in Dublin on August 16th.
At the beginning of the track, Liam Gallagher asks the screaming crowd, “Where the fuck would we all be without Wonderwall, hey? Where would we be?” As the crowd begins to pick up volume at the mention of a fan-favourite, he adds, “Selling carpets or some shit like that.”
The global hit was recorded last month during a two-show run at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. They played to more than 160,000 fans; the shows were the group’s first gigs in Ireland since 2009.
‘Wonderwall’ was first played by Noel Gallagher at Glastonbury in June 1995, and in 2020, it became the first 1990s song to surpass one billion streams on Spotify. It originally hit eighth spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1996, which was their highest charting success at that point in their career.
The band has released several other live recordings from their current world tour. First, they released ‘Slide Away’, live from Cardiff on July 4th, followed by the racing ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ live from Manchester on July 11th, followed by ‘Little By Little’ live from London’s Wembley Stadium on August 2nd. Lastly, Oasis have also released a recorded version of ‘Bring It On Down‘ from their August 9th show in Edinburgh.
Oasis are just over halfway through a 41-stop tour. They last played MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on August 31st and, after a short break, will play two nights at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California.
Far Out were on the ground at their New Jersey show, and wrote of the triumphant display: “It’s nice to see Noel and Liam finally on good terms again and laying their guns down, but despite any naysayers, they have given millions of Americans the opportunity to feel the power of music, and as Noel has said before, no one will ever forget the way that you made them feel.”
