Oasis reunion announcement crashes band’s website
Moments before Oasis announced their reunion on August 27th, their website crashed due to the demand by fans.
Over the last few days, the imminent announcement surrounding the reunion of Liam and Noel Gallagher has been the word on everybody’s lips across the United Kingdom. At 8:00am on August 27th, the whole country was in unison refreshing the official Oasis website to such a degree that it couldn’t cope with the number of visitors.
Upon attempting to see the contents of the website amid the announcement, visitors were met with an ‘Error’ message, which read, “The proxy failed to connect to the web server, due to the TCP connection timeout”.
However, the website issues faced by Oasis were not enough to stop the message of their reunion tour, which sent social media into meltdown as the clock stroked 8:00am. In a statement, Oasis said of their comeback, “The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised.”
The run of dates will begin with a two-date residency at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff starting on July 4th before Oasis return home to Manchester to perform four shows at Heaton Park. They are also booked to headline four dates at Wembley Stadium in London as well as host two concerts at the Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh. Additionally, the Gallagher’s will visit Ireland for a pair of concerts at Dublin’s Croke Park.
If the news of their announcement was strong enough to bring their website to a temporary halt, demand for tickets will likely be unlike anything else in recent memory, and more shows could potentially be added to appease the appetite of fans.
While no shows have been announced the UK and Ireland at this stage, a press release has confirmed that Oasis plan to take the reunion outside of Europe later in 2025.
At this stage, it’s not been confirmed who else will be part of the band’s line-up alongside Liam and Noel Gallagher. However, a recent report from The Sun alleged that it would be Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds backing Oasis. Notably, the group features Chris Sharrock and Gem Archer, who previously played with the legendary band.
The announcement of the reunion comes two days before the 30th anniversary of Definitely Maybe on August 29th. Recently reflecting on the seminal album, Noel said, “The voice is an instrument, and it’s the same thing with the Bee Gees. When you get two brothers singing together, it’s something unique. Back in the early 1990s, it was fucking amazing.”
Tickets for the Oasis reunion tour go on sale at 9:00am on August 31st.
