Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor throws doubt on any future tours
During their appearance in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on Friday night, Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor gave the audience some worrying news, hinting that the band’s current tour may very well be their last.
Beginning back in June 2025, with the inaugural date taking place in Dublin, Ireland, the band’s Peel It Back tour is set to conclude on March 16 with a date in Sacramento, before Reznor is due to appear at Coachella alongside Boys Noize, under the united name of Nine Inch Noize.
Appearing at Tulsa’s BOK Center, Reznor reflected on the first time his group played in the area: “I think we were opening for Peter Murphy,” he said. “And we were playing ‘Head Like a Hole’, and I could see someone in the back screaming the fuckin’ lyrics back at me, and I thought, ‘This is all I ever wanted in life, is to connect with somebody like that dude in the back.’”
The songwriter went on to add, “I don’t know if we’re gonna be touring anymore after this, but I’m proud of the show that we’re doing right now. And I’m fuckin’ grateful that you’ve chosen to spend your evening with us tonight.”
Concluding, “Thank you very much.”
Whether or not Peel It Back ends up being Nine Inch Nail’s final-ever tour, after almost four decades on the road, remains to be seen. It is worth remembering, though, that the band performed a Wave Goodbye tour back in 2009, before returning to live performance in 2013.
What’s more, if Nine Inch Nails are due to either retire from touring or take an extended hiatus, there is still no guarantee that Trent Reznor won’t continue touring in a solo capacity or as part of a collaborative project like Nine Inch Noize.
During a 2025 chat with Consequence, Reznor also affirmed that NIN are currently working on new material.
“We are working on new stuff and we’re excited to work on it, and we are prioritizing working on Nine Inch Nails over just taking on every single thing that comes up in the other category,” he shared, which would suggest that, even if the band ceases to exist in a live format, it will continue to record new material.
