Nicolas Cage’s son arrested for allegedly attacking his mother with “deadly weapon”

Weston Cage Coppola, the son of actor Nicolas Cage, has been arrested in Los Angeles after allegedly assaulting his mother, Christina Fulton, with a deadly weapon. The 33-year-old has since been bailed on a bond of $150,000.

The arrest is allegedly linked to an incident that occurred back in April this year, although the finer details of what happened in the attack are yet to be revealed. An LAPD spokesperson, though, has confirmed that the arrest did indeed take place.

They noted to The Sun: “I can confirm that Weston Cage Coppola was arrested today for assault with a deadly weapon.” The spokesperson went on to add that Weston was taken into custody when he was apprehended by the LAPD’s 77th Division.

A source close to the Cage Coppola family allgedly told the aforementioned publication that they were aware the arrest was going to happen and it was still proving to be a difficult moment for them. It’s unknown who the person was who paid the bail for Weston’s bail.

Back in May this year, Christina Fulton spoke with People about the attack and admitted that she and her son didn’t have an argument before it took place. She also stated it likely occurred because of Weston’s mental health struggles. On the day, she had been contacted by a number of Weston’s “best friends” who warned that he was in a state of “crisis”.

Fulton then travelled to where her son was situated but was quickly attacked by him. She explained, “Upon my arrival, I was met by my son who clearly was in a state of a mental-health breakdown, which in turn became a horrific experience.”

“I have always supported helping my son with his mental health struggles,” Fulton added. “I am doing all I can to get him the continued support he needs.” Weston has struggled with addiction and was arrested for a DUI and a hit-and-run in 2017.

Weston Coppola Cage is an actor and musician. He made his acting debut in Lord of the War in 2005 alongside his father and has also fronted two metal bands, Eyes of Noctum and Arsh Anubis. He is yet to comment on the arrest.

“He can do things I dream about doing … compose music, sing, act, sculpt and cook and now he is a loving father,” Cage had once said following the birth of his grandson, Lucian Augustus. “To see my son with my grandson is as close to a sense of blissful completion I ever had.”

Meanwhile, earlier this week, Cage explained why he was “terrified” of artificial intelligence. The Hollywood star said of the possible role of technology in the future: “It makes me wonder, you know, where will the truth of the artists end up? Is it going to be replaced? Is it going to be transmogrified? Where’s the heartbeat going to be? I mean, what are you going to do with my body and my face when I’m dead? I don’t want you to do anything with it!”

This is a developing story.
