Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds UK and European tour, which had originally been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, has now been cancelled.
The tour was in support of the group’s landmark 2019 record Ghosteen and was the first opportunity many of the band’s fans had to witness the songs in action. Sadly now, however, that opportunity must wait a little while longer as the group are forced to cancel following ongoing concerns around Covid-19.
The dates had originally been rescheduled for April 2021 but with no end to the live music restrictions in sight, despite a vaccine being rolled out across the globe, the band were forced to make the difficult decision to cancel.
“We are very disappointed to announce that the Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds 2021 UK and European tour can no longer go ahead due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19,” read an online statement from the group.
“The complexity and scale of the tour we had planned, combined with the continued uncertainty around the pandemic means that despite the hard work of everyone involved we have not been able to guarantee that the shows can happen.”
The statement continued: “We are continuing to work on alternative plans for 2021 and 2022 and hope to announce some better news next year. Sending love to you all.” Though it will be a shock for his fans, the extra time may provide Cave with an opportunity to make more music.
