Dreamy Galway upstarts NewDad have followed the beautiful ‘Blue’ with another slice of tranquillity in the form of ‘I Don’t Recognise You’.
The Irish band are carving out their own fuzzy, distorted lane that makes hints towards an optimistic and bright future for the four-piece who only shared their debut single earlier in 2020. While the pandemic has prevented the band from getting out on the road to play to their newly-recruited fanbase, their new followers have found a tonic for the current situation in the band’s offering of escapism. ‘I Don’t Recognise You’ allows the listener to fall off into a dreamy haze, that momentarily makes reality slip to the back of the mind.
NewDad are gearing up to release their debut EP Waves in early 2021 and the year is gearing up to be a special one for the group. They’ll have their fingers and toes firmly crossed that they can finally play these songs to their fans, with the band already confirmed for The Great Escape 2021, next year could easily see them break out into the stratosphere.
Speaking on the new track, NewDad says: “The song is about watching someone you love lose their way. Sometimes, you can’t recognise them as the same person they were before.
“We recorded the song in September in Belfast with Chris Ryan, who had mixed our last four songs, so it was amazing to work so hands on with him. It was our first time in a studio together, because we had recorded everything ourselves before. It was so much fun in the studio and we were able to really experiment with a lot more production techniques that have evolved our sound in a great way.”
