New ‘South Park’ episode throws shade at US Secretary of War
South Park picked another politician to take aim at with their latest episode, which aired on November 26th.
The new Thanksgiving episode began with the South Park City Council searching for a sponsor for their Thanksgiving run, the South Park Turkey Trot. Local businesses were unable to help due to the poor economy and their own struggles.
The Council found an answer from Saudi Arabia, which agreed to sponsor the run, with the caveat that “disparaging remarks towards the Saudi Royal family are strictly prohibited.”
This obviously satirises Saudi 2030, an initiative that sees Saudi Arabia sponsor entertainment events. They recently came under fire for the Comedy festival that the show also specifically referenced, as Saudi Arabia should “go back to what they were doing … hacking up reporters and inviting Pete Davidson to come do comedy”.
During the event, Cartman is convinced he can use “race science” to win the Thanksgiving race. However, his plan was simply to convince the one African American boy in their class, Tolkien Black, to join the team, convinced that “[his] race always wins races”. The plan eventually goes awry.
Elsewhere in the episode, the United States Secretary of War Pete Hegseth arrives, demanding the release of Peter Thiel, the Antichrist-fuelled politician who is being held in the South Park police station.
However, Hegseth is more obsessed with posting content for social media, and is quickly dismissed and thrown out of the prison. As Trump’s character puts it: “Don’t just make a bunch of content. Like, actually go and do something!”
Hegseth sets his sights on the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, using Kristi Noem’s ICE agents to shoot runners with teargas. Eventually, Hegseth is thrown into the same prison cell as Thiel. His last words are, “South Park is gonna pay for this! They’re all gonna pay!”
The season finale of the divisive animation will finish with a final episode set to air on December 12th.
