Trailer arrives for new horror movie, ‘Good Boy’, shot from the perspective of a dog
Director Ben Leonberg has released a trailer for his first movie Good Boy, a horror film about a haunted house from a dog’s perspective.
“Always by your side. Through the good times, and the bad,” the trailer reads, beginning with a loving montage of home footage video of the pup, before plunging into a darker atmosphere.
The trailer then shows a sequence of the dog reacting to an intruder in the house, following the sound of strange thumps to enter the living room and catch sight of a strange figure dramatically banging his head against the wall.
The official synopsis accompanying the clip reads, “A loyal dog moves to a rural family home with his owner, Todd (played by Shane Jensen), only to discover supernatural forces lurking in the shadows. As dark entities threaten his human companion, the brave pup must fight to protect the one he loves most.”
Todd’s grandfather, played by Larry Fessenden, is also featured in the clip, though bloodied and screaming like a dog at certain points. For his debut, Leonberg has chosen the best leading actor to take up the huge role—his own dog, Indy.
The film will join the ranks of other point-of-view horror movies, such as 2024’s Presence (shot from a ghost’s perspective) and In a Violent Nature (shot from a killer’s perspective). Like both of these movies, Good Boy‘s run time is relatively short, stretching to 80 minutes only.
The Good Boy cast also includes Stuart Rudin, Arielle Friedman, and Anya Krawcheck. It first premiered at the SXSW Film Festival in March. So far, it has 95 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes, an impressive score for a horror debut.
For those desperate to catch a glimpse of this new take on a horror classic, IFC Films will release the film in North America on October 3rd, while the UK will follow later with an October 10th release.
