Tim Pope, the director of the upcoming documentary focusing on the Cure, has shared a teaser of the film.
The documentary will focus on the 40th-anniversary of The Cure who celebrated the 40-year anniversary of their debut single ‘Killing An Arab’ with a massive Hyde Park show last year. On top of that, the band are lined up for a headline set at Glastonbury 2019 which will mark the 40th anniversary of their debut album Three Imaginary Boys.
While no specific details of the documentary have been released yet, Pope did say this about the film: “So, 2018 will see me collaborating with Robert on a feature-length, chronological documentary of The Cure’s history from the 1970s via present day to the future. Robert himself will tell the story and this will work alongside other events for the band’s 40-year celebration,” the director said at the end of 2017.
He added: “The film to which I will bring my own style of jiggery-pokery will use as well as ‘old favourites’ a cornucopia of material from Robert’s collection which has never been seen before; Super-8; interviews; bootlegs; rare performances; behind-the-scenes, blah.”
Now, the director has shared a teaser image of Smith in the project:
