New documentary on The Brat Pack in development at Hulu
The famous group of actors who came through into prominence in the 1980s, known as the Brat Pack, starring in several films together, will be the subject of a new documentary.
Brats is being produced by ABC News Studios and is a feature-length film that will be directed by Brat Pack member Andrew McCarthy of Pretty in Pink and St. Elmo’s Fire.
The film will go back to the origins of the Brat Pack and look into their history and their impact on the 1980s and today. It will also detail the experiences the actors had on the likes of The Breakfast Club and other films of the era.
Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Semi Moore, Jon Cryer, Timothy Hutton and Lea Thompson will also make appearances alongside members of the Brat Pack, as well as a handful of producers and directors from the films themselves.
“The Brat Pack has cast a long shadow over my life and career,” McCarthy recently said in a statement. “After all these years, I was curious to see how it had affected my fellow Brat Pack members. What I found was surprising — and liberating.”
Brats will follow on the back of McCarthy’s 2021 memoir Brat: An ‘80s Story, which dived headfirst into his experience in the group.
The film, a co-production between ABC News Studios, Neon and Network Entertainment, is expected to land on Hulu at some point later this year. However, no exact release date has been provided at this moment in time.
