Neil Young has confirmed that he is currently working on a new album with Crazy Horse.
The 75-year-old musician last paired up with his long time collaborators on Colorado back in 2019. In 2020, he also released Homegrown, a project that was comprised of a series of recordings from between 1974-75.
Now, it would seem that a follow-up is on the way. Young took to his website to announce that writing is already well underway, and recording is set to begin soon.
In the statement, he wrote: “I have five songs ready for the next album, so I think over time the rest will come and we may start recording again soon.”
He also hinted that tour dates will follow once he can be “sure the audience is safe,” owing to the ongoing pandemic.
The musician also announced that his science fiction novel Canary has been submitted to publishers. The book is set to focus on a man who works for a “power company and there’s corruption in the power company and he wants to expose it.” As of yet, it is not clear when the book will be made available.
On top of the novel and new album, Young is also working on an archival project, with a bumper release expected in the not-too-distant future, proving that even in his autumn years he remains as prolific as ever.
