Murder Inc label head Irv Gotti accused of sexual assault
Irv Gotti, the hip-hop mogul known for founding the label Murder Inc, is now facing sexual assault charges after a lawsuit from an anonymous ex-girlfriend accused the label head in Florida.
Gotti, real name Irving Domingo Lorenzo, had been known for founding the label as an offshoot of Def Jam Recording. He is most known for being the head of the company when releasing albums from Ja Rule and Ashanti in the early 2000s.
According to a Florida lawsuit, the relationship between Gotti and the victim had started back in 2020, when they had met at a poker tournament, and the industry executive invited her to Saint Martin. This would be the start of an ongoing abusive relationship that would continue for two years.
When they arrived in Saint Martin, the victim said that Gotti tried to force her to have sex with him, saying that he would send her home if she did not adhere to what he said. Though they would continue dating for two years, the lawsuit went on to say that she would suffer years of sexual abuse at the hands of Gotti.
Due to her trauma, the report says that she has many emotional scars, saying, “As a result of this sexually abusive relationship, Plaintiff has suffered severe emotional and psychological harm for which she had to be committed to a psychiatric ward. These injuries continue and affect Plaintiff to this day.”
The final interaction occurred in 2022 in Atlanta, where Gotti is accused of forcing the victim to perform oral sex. Following the meeting in Atlanta, the relationship would end.
However, the victim has also accused Gotti of slander due to his treatment of her in public. Despite the years of abuse behind closed doors, Gotti was said to have defamed her to his friends in the greater Los Angeles area, which left her living in fear of leaving her home.
Of course, this is far from the first time that Murder Inc. has been in hot water. While the label had started thanks to the supergroup of Ja Rule, DMX, and Jay-Z, Gotti had also been accused of using the label to launder drug money behind the scenes.
Since his stint in the public eye, Gotti has been turning towards various legacy projects, including a docuseries on BET telling the story of how Murder Inc. rose to prominence. As of yet, Gotti has not made any comment on the allegations.
This is a developing story.
