MTV VMAs 2025: MTV is bringing back round-the-clock music videos ahead of event
Remember the heady days of MTV, when they played music videos non-stop and only interrupted the day’s tunes with a message from a Video Jockey?
For a brief time, you are going to be able to enjoy that once again as MTV has confirmed that it will be temporarily bringing back 24/7 music videos ahead of the 2025 VMAs.
The event is due to take place on September 7th at the UBS Arena in Long Island and is gathering up its usual run of column inches. But the channel is now looking to kick things up a notch by reverting to its traditional model.
A mix of modern and classic music videos will be given the room to air on MTV2, MTV Live, MTV Classic and MTV Biggest Pop on their Pluto channel.
The promotion will run from September 1st up until the awards show that takes place a week later. Sadly, the flagship channel, MTV, will not follow the music video format.
Expect over 700 music videos to be aired during the run. Some of those videos will have been collecting dust for a decade, but will be given airtime across the promotion. MTV will be picking videos from their previous categories ‘Best Celebrity Cameos’, ‘Craziest Videos Of All Time’, and ‘Most VMA Victories’.
Speaking to Billboard, MTV revealed that the artists with the most videos in their selection were Mariah Carey, NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, Backstreet Boys, Michael Jackson, Eminem, Madonna, Beyoncé, and Britney Spears.
Paris Hilton, Chappell Roan, Olivia Rodrigo, Teddy Swims and Jon Bon Jovi will alos get some space on the channel as they plan to air “interstitials” to celebrate the art form of music videos.
