‘Movin’ On Up’: Geese gain Primal Scream seal of approval with cover in Glasgow
Primal Scream have granted their seal of approval to Geese after they performed a cover of the band’s iconic hit ‘Movin’ On Up’ in Glasgow.
The American rock band have become one of the hottest tickets in the country this week as they bring their current tour to the UK, having played the Scottish city’s world-famous Barrowland Ballroom on March 21st.
While there, the Cameron Winter-fronted band took a moment to honour a selection of Glasgow’s storied musical history, by performing a storming cover of the band’s huge 1992 hit ‘Movin’ On Up’, which went down a storm among the home crowd.
After the gig, Geese shared a clip of the moment through a video on their Instagram, captioning it with the line: “Glasgow, nice one. Here we fucking go,” referencing the famous catchphrase often chanted at concerts in the city.
Subsequently, on March 23rd, Primal Scream also shared the clip to their own Instagram page, simply captioning the post by saying they were “honoured” that Geese chose to cover their song.
Although the show was the New York band’s only Scottish stop on this current stint of the tour, they are set to make a further visit back to Glasgow and the Barrowlands this summer, with two shows billed for August 25th and 26th.
Thereafter, they will head to Reading and Leeds Festival, before going to Ireland to appear at Electric Picnic in Stradbally, County Laois on August 30th.
Primal Scream are not the only classic rock band to heap praise on Geese within recent times, however, as last month, U2’s bassist Adam Clayton lauded their 2025 album Getting Killed, as he said: “I respect their radical free form attitude of not playing the commercial game.”
At the time, Clayton added that the record was “A reaction to the programmed and over produced, bringing music back to the special chemistry of a band playing together.”
As part of their current UK tour, Geese will play the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester on March 24th, followed by the Eventim Apollo in London on March 25th. Tickets for both these shows are completely sold out.
