Morgan Wallen says his concerts are “safe” to attend with “side chick” amid Coldplay affair scandal
Country star Morgan Wallen jokingly told his crowd that his concerts are a safe space for affairs after Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were caught having an affair at a Coldplay show last week.
When Coldplay performed at Gillette Stadium in Boston on July 15th, their kiss cam captured footage of an affair, which has now been viewed hundreds of millions of times across social media platforms. The clip showed Astronomer’s CEO, Byron, in an embrace with the company’s head of HR, Cabot, before the pair acted suspiciously once they realised they were on the jumbotron.
At the time, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin jokingly said of Byron’s behaviour on the kiss cam, “Either they’re having an affair, or they’re very shy.”
After Byron was placed on leave by Astronomer, the company confirmed that he had offered his resignation. In a statement, the tech company said: “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
Coldplay also skirted around the scandal during their performance at Camp Randall Stadium, Madison, on July 19th. Martin said, laughing, “We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen.”
The Coldplay frontman added: “How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen. Please, if you haven’t done your makeup, do your makeup now!”
Now, Wallen, who released his chart-topping album I’m The Problem earlier this year, has waded into the conversation. Addressing the crowd at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Wallen put anybody committing infidelity at ease, jokingly saying: “Anybody in here with their side chick or whatever, I think you’re safe here.”
Wallen then denounced the actions of Byron and Cabot, adding, “I don’t condone cheating”, before adding “anymore” after a brief comedic pause.
Similarly, Liam Gallagher said before playing ‘Slide Away’ at Heaton Park with Oasis on July 20th: “Right then, do we have any lovebirds in the house? Don’t worry, we don’t have any of that Coldplay snidey fucking camera shit. It doesn’t matter to us who you’re fucking mingling with, tinkering with, fingering with. None of our fucking business. This one is for the lovebirds, anyway.”
