Jaws frontman Connor Schofield has shared ‘Bones’ which is the latest track from his futuristic side project MORE*FIRE and it arrives as Far Out Magazine’s track of the day.
The project, which was launched back in March with the release of the stunning self-titled debut single and Schofield, has now released the follow-up single which progresses on from where the first MORE*FIRE track left off.
‘Bones’ sits in a completely different lane to the dreamy shoegaze style of Jaws, MORE*FIRE sees Schofield step into the unknown with experimental vocal effects that pay off and give the track a visceral feel to it. The latest single feels like it could be taken straight off Bon Iver’s stunning 2019 masterpiece i,i and is also reminiscent of The 1975’s ‘Shiny Collarbone’.
Speaking of the track, Schofield said: “I made a lot of these songs around the same time in the same cluster of creativity, I’d never really written a song with this feel or groove before and it really took me out of my comfort zone in a good way, it was great to experiment with the vocals and layering of samples with this one.”
Adding: “Lyrically, the song has themes of learning to not to rely so much on other people and working out how to be happy in your own skin.”
The track also features as the fourth episode of Far Out Magazine’s new Facebook series ‘Emerging Sounds’, which shines a light on some of the best new music that’s simmering under the radar right now.
