Arctic Monkeys drummer Matt Helders is leaving nothing to chance as he prepares to launch a cafe in his hometown of Sheffield.
Helders, who now resides in Los Angeles with his family, is going into the food business alongside his friend James O’Hara on the venture they have named ‘Ambulo’.
Taking to social media to confirm the venture, Helders said: “Arriving in 2019 All Day Café Sheffield. Different to what I usually post, but I’m getting in the restaurant biz, believe it or not. Happy to be doing it with my mate @jamesohara1 and his capable team. @weareambulo.”
Given his commitments to Arctic Monkeys and the work he’s putting into his upcoming new solo album, it wasn’t revealed how much influence Helders would have on the day-to-day implementation of the cafe. However, business partner O’Hara has revealed the “hands-on” approach to Helders’ uence.
“He’s been itching to get involved in some way for a long time. We’d been talking about doing something food-led, and it seemed right to work together on this,” explained O’Hara in an interview with Imbibe
‘He’s actually really involved, it’s not like he’s a silent partner. He spends his life travelling the world essentially eating and drinking. I went over to LA last week and did a load of “research” with him,” he added.
