Mogwai to celebrate 30 years of Rock Action with new tour dates
Mogwai are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their record label, Rock Action Records, with the announcement of concerts across Scotland and Europe, as well as a music video for their debut single, ‘Tuner’.
The new video features “rare footage from our early days through to now,” previously unseen by fans. It is produced and edited by Antony Crook, who also collaborated with the band on their 2024 documentary, Mogwai: If The Stars Had A Sound.
‘Tuner’ was the first release from the Scottish post-rock band, which set the stage for their debut release Mogwai Young Team, also released in 1997. It was released through their own label, Rock Action.
Over three decades, the label has been a roaring success, boasting names such as Arab Strap, The Twilight Sad, and Bdrmm.
The band has also announced a new slate of shows this November, kicking off in Liege and heading to Hamburg, Copenhagen, Berlin, the Netherlands, Brussels, and France, before culminating in two huge shows at Glasgow’s Royal Concert Hall on November 20th and 21st.
Their next live date will take place at London’s Royal Albert Hall on March 25th, alongside Craven Faults and Annika Kilkenny. The line-up has been curated by The Cure’s Robert Smith and is in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.
Far Out gave Mogwai’s 2025 album, The Bad Fire, a glowing four-and-a-half-star review, observing, “Their balls-to-the-wall approach to songwriting and creativity has gotten them this far, so why try anything different? This layered, intoxicating piece of music is one of the easiest albums you could ever get lost in, and it’s something you won’t want to emerge from.”
