Moby has cancelled the UK and Ireland strand of his book tour following controversy surrounding his comments made about Natalie Portman.

According to a note on the artist’s site, Moby is “is canceling all upcoming public appearances for the foreseeable future.” In addition to this he has posted on Instagram stating “I’m going away for a while.”

Moby’s book release has been rife with controversy after numerous accounts in his memoir have been questioned. Most notably, his alleged relationships with Lana Del Ray and actor Natalie Portman.

Portman spoke frankly about the meeting, denying Moby’s claims in an interview in Harper’s Bazaar, she said: “I was a fan and went to one of his shows when I had just graduated… When we met after the show, he said, ‘let’s be friends.’ He was on tour and I was working, shooting a film, so we only hung out a handful of times before I realized that this was an older man who was interested in me in a way that felt inappropriate.”

On the 28th of May Moby wrote “I am the one who released the book without showing it to the people I wrote about. I’m the one who posted defensively and arrogantly. I’m the one who behaved inconsiderately and disrespectfully, both in 2019 and in 1999. There is obviously no one else to blame but me.”
