Watch Milly Alcock star in explosive first trailer for ‘Supergirl’
DC have officially shared the first trailer for Craig Gillespie’s highly anticipated Supergirl, starring Milly Alcock.
The trailer gives audiences an opportunity to preview the intergalactic adventures of Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl, who was first introduced to fans at the end of this summer’s Superman.
In the two-minute trailer, which is soundtracked by Blondie’s anthem ‘Call Me’, Kara is seen dealing with the consequences of a heavy night of drinking while being comforted by her partner in crime, Superman’s dog Krypto.
At one stage in the trailer, Supergirl tells Krypto, “I, Kara Zor-El, here by declare that 23 will be the best year yet, let’s be honest, babe, it’s not a very high bar.”
Later, she is asked by Eve Ridley’s Ruthye Marye Knoll, “I didn’t know you were still alive, what was it like to lose everything in a day?” and “What’s Superman like?”, to which Zor-El replied, “He sees the good in everyone, and I see the truth.”
During an appearance on The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM in September, DC Studios chief James Gunn said of the upcoming blockbuster, “Supergirl, the movie, we’re editing it right now.”
He also heaped praise upon Alcock, saying, “Milly Alcock, who plays Supergirl, might be the best bit of casting I’ve ever done in my entire life. I think she’s absolutely stunning in the movie.”
The upcoming film is based on Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, written by Tom King and illustrated by Bilquis Evely.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Alcock said of landing the role of Supergirl, “I thought, ‘What have I done?’. I really struggled to believe I could do it. I even called the director saying, ‘I don’t know how to be that person. I’m just me’.”
She continued, “Eventually I realized the only way through was to trust myself. I always believe life is right on time. Things happen when they’re supposed to, whether you feel ready or not.”
Supergirl is set to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 26th, 2026.
