Maya Hawke has announced the impending release of her debut album, Blush, which is due out June 19th through Mom + Pop Records.
Hawke, who is famously the daughter of actress Uma Thurman and actor Ethan Hawke, made her major breakthrough into cinema by playing the role of Robin in the third season of the immensely popular Netflix series Stranger Things.
Now, as her Stranger Things performance has helped her make the transition into the music industry, Hawke has joined forces with Jesse Harris for the creation of her music. “After seeing the movie Call Me by Your Name for the second time, I left the theatre and I was walking home to my apartment in Brooklyn, and I just started thinking about the images of water and the romantic feeling in that movie,” Hawke told previously told Pitchfork.
“This album happened accidentally,” Hawke added a statement. “From my point of view, Blush is a collection of secret messages, hidden communications with the people in my life.”
To coincide with the album news, Hawke has released the new song ‘By Myself’ which arrived with a video directed by Amanda Kramer.
“‘By Myself’ was a secret message to myself, that I hope I’ll receive someday soon,” Hawke said before adding that it is “about projecting ideas you have about yourself onto other people.”
