Masked thieves smash Florence Pugh’s van after ‘Thunderbolts’ premiere in London
Things took a frightening turn after the premiere of the upcoming Thunderbolts movie for Florence Pugh on Tuesday, April 22nd. As she arrived at the after-party, masked robbers attacked the fleet of vehicles she was travelling in.
The raiders pulled up on motorbikes and proceeded to smash the windows of one of the vans. They then stole a laptop and a phone from one of the five Mercedes vehicles.
Pugh travelled from the red carpet event in Leicester Square to an after-party near the Strand with her family, including her grandmother Pat, who is nearing her late 80s. Rumoured boyfriend and Peaky Blinders actor Finn Cole was also by her side.
Pugh, family and team were unaware of the attack at the time. Eyewitnesses reported that the masked robbers appeared after Pugh and her entourage had entered the venue. Seemingly unfazed by the incident, the Midsommar actor continued with her promotional engagements in the following days.
The Met Police have confirmed the incident is under investigation.
Pugh has stated of the upcoming Marvel movie: “It ended up becoming this quite badass indie, A24-feeling assassin movie with Marvel superheroes.” This comment has come under fire as it paints the mega studio capitalising on the success of a smaller company, attempting to co-opt their unique branding. This diminishes indie to an aesthetic, rather than a genre in its own right.
At the very same premiere, Pedro Pascal made headlines as he wore the viral ‘Protect the Dolls’ t-shirt in solidarity with the transgender community after the controversial gender ruling of the Supreme Court. He has since lashed out publicly at author JK Rowling for her celebration of the biologically determinist ruling.
The Thunderbolts movie follows a group of rag-tag antiheroes ensnared in a death trap. It is coming to cinemas on May 2nd. Florence Pugh is returning to her role as cut-throat assassin Yelena Belova.
