Marmozets return after seven years with new single and UK tour
Post-hardcore group Marmozets have returned after seven years with a new single, titled ‘A Kiss From A Mother’, and news of a UK tour.
The Yorkshire-based band has returned for the first time since their 2018 album, Knowing What You Know Now. The album was critically acclaimed, but the band took a surprising hiatus, as frontwoman Becca McIntyre and guitarist Jack Bottomley got married and started a family together.
Now, they’ve returned with a fierce punch to the gut, fast and formidable. The racing chorus repeats the lyrical refrain, “Act on what you hear / Not in one ear and out the other / Nothing two-faced or fickle here / A kiss from a mother.”
McIntyre has shared of the new song, “The message of the song is to make sure you listen, rather than just shoot straight back. Probably everyone can relate to the idea of not letting some advice go in one ear and out the other, let it actually immerse in you.”
She added, “As for my voice, that’s just my spirit coming out! I’m not playing a character; I’m giving it all that I’ve got.”
A music video accompanies the new track, which depicts the band in a dark room, thrashing around in their performance, which includes a rope, a feather, and a snake, among other props.
They’ve also announced a set of live shows that begin at the end of this year. For the first time since December 2018, the band will hit small stages up and down the country, beginning in Huddersfield on December 1st, and stopping in Cardiff, Brighton and Coventry to round out 2025.
From there, they will head up to Glasgow on January 20th, making their way through Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, Bristol and Southampton, before ending up at London’s Dingwalls on January 31st.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale this Friday.
