Marie Fredriksson, the lead singer of Roxette, has died aged 61
Marie Fredriksson, the singer of Swedish pop duo Roxette has sadly died at the age of 61 following a long battle with cancer.
The singer, one half of the duo, has been battling brain cancer for some week and now her Roxette bandmate, Per Gessle has confirmed the news.
In a social media post, Gessle said, “Time goes by so quickly. It’s not that long ago we spent days+nights in my tiny apartment sharing impossible dreams. And what a dream we eventually got to share!” he wrote. “I’m honoured to have met your talent+generosity. All my love goes to you+your family. Things will never be the same.”
The iconic work of Fredriksson will live on after her. The four number ones from Froxette will still have a special place in the heart of the public. The songs ‘The Look’, ‘Listen to Your Heart’, ‘It Must Have Been Love’, and ‘Joyride’ are still dancefloor fillers.
