Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell’s ’A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ trailer premieres at CinemaCon
The trailer for the film A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, starring Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, has had its premiere at CinemaCon.
Kogonada, the South Korean-American filmmaker who directs the film, took to the stage at the cinema convention in Las Vegas on March 31st to introduce the trailer as part of Sony Pictures’ presentation, saying, “It’s the kind of film that I would want to watch in a packed theatre.”
The project was then described as “original,” “romantic,” and “I hope, moving”. Kogonada then heaped praise on his lead actors, claiming they were “two extraordinary stars at the peak of their craft [who] light up the screen together.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the trailer depicts two strangers – Robbie and Farrell – who have a chance meeting before they are directed back together days later by an AI navigation device in Farrell’s car that tells him, “Do you want to go on a big bold beautiful journey?,” transforming the pair’s relationship into a magical road trip.
This first glimpse of A Big Bold Beautiful Journey comes shortly after its release date was pushed back several months to September, supposedly in order to complete with the male-led and horror-based films that will be released alongside it.
For the part of its lead star Robbie, this marks her first return to the big screen since her Oscar-nominated role in the 2023 smash hit Barbie, directed by Greta Gerwig.
Similarly, for Farrell, he comes off the back of a critically acclaimed turn in the HBO Batman spinoff drama The Penguin, as well as another Oscar-nominated role for 2022’s The Banshees of Inisherin.
The trailer for A Big Bold Beautiful Journey has not yet been released publicly, but the film will hit cinemas on September 19th, 2025.
