Margot Robbie says she became “codependent” on Jacob Elordi on ‘Wuthering Heights’ set

Margot Robbie has admitted that she became “codependent” on her co-star, Jacob Elordi, while filming the upcoming novel adaptation, Wuthering Heights.

In the movie, Robbie stars as the lead character of Catherine Earnshaw, opposite Elordi as Heathcliff, who fall madly in love with one another in a doomed, destructive romantic spiral.

In a new interview with Fandango, Robbie reflected on their off-screen relationship while filming Emily Brontë’s classic novel.

The 35-year-old mused, “I’m so codependent with people I work with and I love everyone so much and I’m always that person who’s so devastated when a job’s over and I never want it to end.”

She went on to add, “I think I developed that quite quickly with Jacob too.”

Robbie recalled how Elordi hovered nearby as she worked on set. Turning to her co-star, she added, “I don’t know if Emerald told you to do this or you did this, but I remember the first couple days on set, he would just be always in the vicinity where I was, but like in a corner, watching Cathy.”

Fennell clarified: “I didn’t tell him to do that. I actually had to ask him to leave.”

It only took three days of filming for Robbie to become codependent: “I found myself starting to look around to see where he was.”

When she couldn’t find Elordi, “I was really unnerved and unmoored. And I felt quite lost, like a kid without their blanket or something.”

Alongside the two lead actors, the rest of the ensemble cast includes the likes of Hong Chau as Nelly Dean, Alison Oliver as Isabella Linton, Shazad Latif as Edgar Linton, and Adolescence star Owen Cooper as Young Heathcliff.
