Manic Street Preachers announce new album

Manic Street Preachers have announced the release of their upcoming fourteenth studio album The Ultra Vivid Lament, which will out to the public on September 3rd. It will be the band’s first LP since 2018’s Resistance is Futile. To celebrate, the band has also released the album’s first single, ‘Orwellian’.

It certainly sounds like a pretty good Manic Street Preachers song, right? At this point, the Manics don’t really have any new barriers to cross. They’re certified legends, cruising down laid back highway of elder statesmen rock and roll bands. Still, it’s cool that the Welsh trio still feel push and desire to keep releasing new material, and even if it’s not going to have the same impact as The Holy Bible or Everything Must Go, the band is still cranking out reliably top shelf music for an adoring audience. There’s something very comforting about that.
