A man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after a 25-year-old woman was found dead at Bestival Festival last year.
The woman, who was previously unnamed, was identified as 25-year-old Louella Michie – the daughter of former Coronation Street actor John Michie.
After announcing a search for the Miss Michie, police confirmed that her body was later found in the wooded area at the edge of the festival’s site. At the time, Ceon Broughton, 28, was initially arrested on suspicion of murdering Louella Michie on her 25th birthday at Bestival before being eventually released by police pending further investigation.
However, Broughton, who was the longterm boyfriend of the deceased, was re-arrested at the time over potentially supplying a class A drug which may have killed Miss Michie.
Now, Dorset Police say that a 28-year-old man, known to Ms Michie, has been arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences and manslaughter.
An initial post-mortem examination revealed no clear signs of assault and, at the time of Broughton’s arrest, the woman’s father dispelled all the claims that he had murdered his daughter: “We’ve lost our angel”, the actor told The Sun. “It’s not murder – they were friends. It was just a tragic mistake, a tragic accident. This was not a murder. They were boyfriend and girlfriend.
“She touched so many lives. She was so very positive, so bright, so out there. She had such energy. The tributes to her have been incredible.”
In the hours before her death it was claimed that Louella was seen looking ‘very unwell’ in the Ambient Forest area of Bestival, a friend told The Sun: “People were so out of it they were on the floor and couldn’t walk — it was a nasty atmosphere. I last saw Louella in that area.
“Her eyes were usually so beautiful but, when I saw her on Sunday, she didn’t look very well at all and was unsteady. Her eyes weren’t good then. She looked odd and didn’t look very happy.”
