Man arrested for sexual assault at Gunna’s O2 Arena concert in London
A man was arrested for sexual assault at Gunna’s recent concert at the O2 Arena in London.
The show took place at the 20,000-capacity arena in Greenwich on March 25th as part of Gunna’s Wun World Tour, which continued at the AO Arena in Manchester last night (March 26th).
Following the concert, a woman took to social media to allege that an audience member had ejaculated on her during the show, which she said “ruined my whole experience at Gunna,” per Hip Hop Hero.
She also wrote on Instagram Stories, “I’ve been waiting for years to see Gunna perform and people that know me know how much I love him. But instead a sick individual decided to ruin my experience and turn it into the worst night of my life.”
The concert-goer then shared footage of the alleged culprit, who she said “even went to the toilet to clean up after himself and even change his outfit”, being escorted out of the venue by security.
Now, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police has confirmed that an arrest took place, sharing in a statement, “A woman, aged in her 30s, was approached from behind by a man, who sexually assaulted her.”
They continued, “Officers were already at the venue and swiftly arrested a 26-year-old man who had been apprehended by venue staff.”
The Metropolitan Police clarified, as of March 26th, that the man remains in custody and the victim is receiving support from specially-trained officers.
The O2 Arena (via London Now) said they are “aware of an isolated incident” that occurred during the concert, before adding, “Venue security and police attended promptly and one individual was arrested.”
Their statement continued, “The matter is now being handled by the Metropolitan Police. Our priority is always the safety and wellbeing of our guests and we are assisting with their enquiries.”
Gunna has not acknowledged the incident. His European tour resumes tonight in Amsterdam.
