Mac DeMarco shares new single ‘Holy’ from upcoming album ‘Guitar’
Mac DeMarco has continued to tease the release of his forthcoming album, Guitar, with the brand new single ‘Holy’.
‘Holy’ is the second cut to be released from Demarco’s new LP, set for release on August 22nd, 2025, through Mac’s Record Label, following lead single ‘Home’ last month.
On the new track, the Canadian sings on the opening verse, “Miracle, reveal yourself to me // Miracle, your help could set me free.” Later, on the melancholy track, he sorrowfully delivers the following lines, “Curse, carried on forever in me, Curse, from which I may never be free, Curse from down below, Holy”.
DeMarco handled almost every aspect of Guitar by himself, including mixing the album in his native Canada and shooting music videos, such as the one for ‘Holy’.
Speaking about the new track and video, Mac notes: “I waded around in the ocean fully clothed for a couple hours and completely filled my boots with seawater. There were some other shots on some rocks I kept trying too, but in the end the clip of me falling in the garden and eating the apple was best. Thank you for listening.”
Upon announcing the new album in June, DeMarco proudly described it as “a true representation of where I’m at in my life today as I can manage to put to paper.” He also added, “I’m happy to share this music, and look forward to playing these songs as many places as I’m able.”
To celebrate the release of the new record, DeMarco will be touring the UK, Ireland, Europe, the United States, Canada, Japan and Hong Kong. The tour kicks off on August 29th at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. He will also play Birmingham, Brighton, London, Cambridge, Manchester, and Dublin later this year.
