Mac DeMarco has partnered with charity PLUS1 for his upcoming EU and solo tours.
Plus 1 grew out of the band Arcade Fire, who were looking for a way to support Haiti and realised the power that lay with the most passionate and committed people they knew: their audience. By including and committing to a $1 donation from every concert ticket sold, together with education and creative outreach, the band created a new community of support for Haiti.
Now, DeMarco has joined the cause and, for every $1 taken from his ticket sales, a donation will be made to support local Girls Rock Camps and their work empowering girls, trans and gender-diverse young people through music education and mentorship.
PLUS1 is an initiative that channels the collective energy of a concert to catalyse social change. By partnering with performing artists, PLUS1 raises and grants millions of dollars to high impact nonprofits addressing our most serious global challenges around Access, Equity, and Dignity.
It's been 10 years since that first $1 per ticket show with @arcadefire for #Haiti. We're deeply moved that #PLUS1 has grown from this incredible partnership to what it is today. Check out all the incredible work by @PIH and @kanpehaiti! pic.twitter.com/KvDVvaTMa7

Elsewhere, DeMarco has announced the bold decision to launch his own record label which is set to be called Mac’s Record Label.
So far in his career, DeMarco has released his music through longtime record company Captured Tracks. It has been revealed, however, that his new label will be distributed through Universal Music Group’s Caroline.
“My friend Jen who plays drums in The Courtneys gave me the name,” he said in a press release.
On top of the momentous label news, DeMarco has also announced his first-ever solo tour which has been named the ‘Purple Bobcat Next to River Tour’. Forever keeping busy, the new solo dates will get going straight after the U.S. and European shows alongside his band.
The Tropicalia Fest in Long Beach, California will be the start date for the solo shows. However, the first headlining solo gig will happen at Valley Bar in Phoenix, Arizona, in November. However, his first UK solo gig will happen Manchester’s Victoria Warehouse as part of the Now Wave 10th Birthday.
