Watch the trailer for ‘Old’, the new M. Night Shyamalan movie

M. Night Shyamalan, the man who has more twists in his locker than a contortionist with a penchant for Curly Wurly’s, is back with another horror-thriller.

This time he has decided to blight our long-awaited summer of freedom with a horrifying look at some sort of beach-based pandemic that sees beach cursed by death and rapid decomposition, ageing and death under the boon of the summer sun.

For Old M. Night Shyamalan has once again teamed up with Universal and collected a cast that includes Gael García Bernal, Vicky Krieps, Aaron Pierre, Thomasin McKenzie and more.

The official logline for the movie reads: “Thus summer, visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan unveils a chilling, mysterious new thriller about a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing for a few hours is somehow causing them to age rapidly – reducing their entire lives into a single day.”

It would appear that one character goes from being a six-year-old girl to a pregnant teen in a matter of moments. Quite how she is impregnated is anyone’s guess as obviously it is not a natural occurrence in the ageing process, and you can find all that out and more in cinemas from July 23rd of this year.

For further reading, you can also check out the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Lévy and Frederik Peeters on which M. Night Shyamalan’s screenplay is based.
